is there any recorded in history of POWs being returned or exchanged after "cooperating" with the enemy?

I'm reading a novel set in the Vietnam war about a prisoner who is offered freedom and good treatment if he will only sign some papers denouncing the war and similar propaganda materials.

Is there any proof that any POWs in any war ever got sent home if cooperated?

McCain had the chance to leave because of who he was, but chose to stay.

I know of none that fit into the category you describe

Interesting side bar relating to the subject:

Very cool...I forget which POW it was that blinked in morse code "torture" in a Christmas film put out by the north. The boys at the CIA were going nuts trying to figure out why the guy blinked like nuts, until an old salt read the code to them.

Honorable men no doubt about it

I doubt if they would be real anxious to tell anybody the real reason they got released if they did cooperate. It also wouldn't serve the purpose of the enemy they cooperated with for everybody to find out.

My mother took me to meet Charlie Plumb at a speech decades ago. I don't remember if I read his book before or after the visit but I do remember what an eye-opener it was for me.
