Here's a picture of a 7.2 lb Largemouth I caught in late May at Fletcher's Floodwater near Alpena MI. I was using a medium sized chartruse and red spinner bait. I caught this lunker two days before bass season opened so I had to release it. Had I got this two days later it would be mounted up on my wall...

Nice.......I didn't know LM that big live that far up North. What part of the lake did you caught it at? I've heard that is a great fishery.

There is a sunken railroad track on one portion of this lake. This area is about 6 to 10 feet deep and it holds a ton of bass. This was by far the biggest largemouth I've caught in Michigan. Had it been in season I could have got a master anglers patch for this one. Fletcher's Floodwaters is an absolutely fantastic fishery. If you wanna catch large bucketmouths and super size northern pike this is the place to go. I've never fished anywhere else that even compares to this 9000 acre lake. This lake was man made, It used to be forest area so there are stumps and cover throughout the lake (watch your prop or you'll break it for sure!!). Perfect bass habitat.

I thought I had died and went to fishing heaven!!! I suggest if anyone has the chance to fish this lake , do so. There are plenty of cabins to rent right on the water that include your own boat dock to park your vessel at night. Overall, it's a great trip. If you go, you will not be dissapointed.

Southern Minnesota Tiger Musky. Proof you don't have to go north to catch these guys. 8# test mono using a plastic worm while bass fishing. No leader. Very lucky to have landed this fish. It was released to be caught by someone else.

Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

Nice thread with some really nice fish. I got this guy in a 250acre lake that just had a public access put in 2005. The local bait guy says, use the Golden shiners for the walleye. Took a few sunnies with worm and a couple of small bass when I decide to hook a golden on and throw it up into the light lily pad cover of the small bay we were in. Bam! hit that Shiner hard and got caught up in a pad. Thought I was going to lose it, so I let the line go limp and he worked his way out of the pads but didn't want to come out. I played him out of the weeds after a few slips of the drag on my ultralight and he went straight to the bottom once out of the weed cover...I knew I really had something. Of course, this is big build up, but for MN, this is a nice fish, and what fun to catch on an ultralight set up. Fortunately, the octopus hooks I was using really have good barbs on them. The line would have had to fail for this one to get away. Most fun I've had pulling in a fish in a couple of years. Took photos and gently released back to be caught ( and hopefully released ) again. Just shy of 5lbs, and I forgot to measure the length. Won't forget that day for a while.

Nice crappies, I can do without the Catfish. I bet they are a blast to catch, but I don't have any use for them ( I'm not fond of eating bottom feeders ).;)

On a related note, I caught my first Walleye in about 5 years, and I did it on purpose this time! Small guy, just big enough for eatin' :D

You need to do your homework on the Flathead, he is the ultimate preadator in southern waters, rarly eats dead things from the bottom. Live bait and healthy (bigger the better) are his feed. Note the position of the mouth and eyes. Eyes on top of head as he feeds above him and the mouth isn`t turned down four scouring the bottom.

Here's a 28" walleye I caught yesterday on the Mississipi near Saint Paul, MN:

And here's a nice 20" sauger from the same trip. It had some wounds on it, probably from a battle with walleye or northern pike:

Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

I love smallies!

The LMB in my profile pic there (that is small, sorry can't find bigger version just yet) was caught in Wethersfield Cove in CT (off Conn. river). somewhere in the 6-7lbs. range. caught on my son's zebco spinner on 1/0 hook with live worm and mini bobber. Jumped on it as soon as it hit the water. I thought the light was making the yellow bobber hard to see... then I started reeling.

Taught my buddy how to snap a pic with my camera phone mainly by screaming and yelling to hurry up! I'm strictly C&R for bass... I like me some panfish and the clean cats!

Let me requalify that then...I prefer fish that I don't have to pull the skin off with a pair of pliers. I've had catfish and Bullhead and didn't enjoy either. I'm sure it's no problem for you...more for you to eat! I'll stick to eating the pretty fish! :D

Been spending a lot of time in retention ponds while I do boat repairs. It's almost like cheating. Caught this 3 pounder on a texas rig.

Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

Just got my boat recently...so this was my first official fishing trip in a good 15 years. That's a 2" silver/black rapala minnow I was using. Tried everything else, and trolling it at about mph produced these and several smaller small mouths, and a nice perch that tossed the lure at the boat. The pic of the one shows a measure of the back of the boat from the splash well to the edge. It's 18" at the end of the splash well, and about 16" where I measured it in the pic. That was a nice little smallie...should have took him home for dinner, but I forget the stringer on my work bench.

Sorry about the in the water pics, but i was alone and had no one to operate the camera...so kept the fish in the water while I got the camera ready to reduce some stress on them...they all went back in the drink.

Small Northern Pike

Small Walleye (non were known to be in this lake, they were stocked quite a few years ago, but the ministry didn't think they were surviving the other predators. HEhe...)
