Since I started carrying my scale at all times this is my biggest "official" catch.

For you southern fisherman, your lucky to catch one this size per year this far north if you are on pressured water. Private ponds, and remote areas may be a different story.

me and my son have been wearing out the hybrids here in alabama. we caught 47 friday and 20 saturday. saturday was a little better because we only fished for an hour or so and it was only me and him. friday we took a crew of my co-workers with us and everyone had a big time

Canyon04062012_1N.jpgCanyon04062012_3N.jpgOK, well, I haven't been on here in a while. I picked up this 5.53 pound largemouth last month at Canyon Lake, Arizona on my 7 weight fly rod using an Enrico Puglisi Pinfish fly. This was nearly a 10 minute battle!

believe it or not (most wont accept it reguardless of the facts lol) asian carp taste wonderful. not a bottom feeder like common carp. in fact they are not a carp. they feed on plankton on the surface hence the jumping. any way. i heard from a few folks that had it at a local bar/restraunt owned by a commercial fisherman it was good. he gave a friend of mines grandpa some for his fish fry. he said they devoured it before the catfish was touched. so courious i had to know the truth.

I have heard that Asian carp is a decent meal fish. Of course there are parts of the world where all carp are good eats.

Re: Post pictures of the fish you catch!!

i had over a dozen people try it. including the 5 year old in the pic and my cousins 6 year old daughter. not one of then said it tasted bad in the least. planning to go to the river for more very soon. i only got these as a sampler. and glad i followed my guy. they were worth the trip.
this is what the raw flesh looks like. not horrid like most would think. pinkish and semi translucent. cooked to a snow white.

plus leaning off the back of my cousins tracker grizzley with a dip net catching 3-4lb fish mid air was a laughing to tears good time. hahahahaha.
