On my 74 Islander, I know the rear "Starcraft" decals have been at least replaced. But would this year have come with decals or metal plates?

My 74 had decals. I think 72 and older had the plastic lettering riveted to the sides. When I restored my boat I opted to install new stainless emblems I found on Ebay.because my old plastic ones were brittle, cracked and warped.

My latest update to my Holiday (better than) restore. I built a removable insulated fish box that stores under the seat. I used 1/2" high density foam (the kind with foil on both sides) to build the box then used fiberglass to make it rigid. Then used Zinzer oil based primer and the same tractor paint with hardener to paint it. Came out REALLY nice! and two bags of ice last at least two days! Will hold a 50" fish too.

I don't know WTF is wrong with photobucket! Does someone know of a hosting site that is not screwed up?

I've been using MS OneDrive and replaced every last pic in 4 threads with the embed code. So far so good, I can't imagine MS doing that, they've shoved their little cloud icon onto every PC taskbar on the planet.

it drives me crazy that those V5s had the windshield spill over onto the top of the gunnels but the NON V5 super sports the windshield stopped at the gunnel drip edge and only the brace arm set on the gunnel. they did things so different on all the models and different years...makes it difficult to get parts

After reading so many of the restoration threads I have hopes of a complete re-do. But with a 15 year old son who is craving a boat with a motor, for now I just want to make sure it runs and get it in the water next spring.

Hi Tin Folk! Well this boat is registered in Oregon as a 1900 Sea King, aluminum outboard, 18ft 4 inches. It looks just like a 1964 Starcraft Star Chief to me. I bought it off Craigslist last April in Coos Bay, OR, and it was advertised as a 1959 Sea King. The title number starts out 059xxxx.1 but not sure if that means anything. The owner said the previous owner took off and that guy's wife sold him the boat. The paperwork was pretty much non existant so the seller had the Sheriff do whatever it is they do so he could get the title. The name plates on the back say Sea King. The trailer was rusted out so I found a used Galvanized trailer that fit. The windshield is shot and I have some Lexan for that. I have replaced the transom and the steering, got rid of the 55 Evinrude and got a couple old Evinrudes an 18 and a 6. I'm a putter and the 6 will get me home if the wind isn't blowing. We put in the water once to swap trailers and boy the wind really blows it around! Anyway I love this boat. I could work on it all the time but I have other stuff to do. The hull is very straight considering it's age. But it got its 3rd above the waterline ding in 60 years while in storage. So I managed to get it in my garage after taking off the front of the trailer and there she sits. Still lots to do but it's really a great escape to go out there and work on it. Oh and it started out as an I/O. Jeff

Looks like a early - mid 1960's Starchief to me too. So can you post a close up of those Sea King plates.

Interesting and very cool, I haven't heard of that brand spun off from Starcraft but it sure looks similar alright.

I was thinking maybe it was an old Mexican Coast Guard boat with those numbers lol. I think the Z after CF means there was a title problem somewhere along the line in California too. At least there was some tequila involved when they affixed the numbers. Jeff

Hello and good day to all you Starcraft faithfuls. I've recently acquired my project baby, a 1975 Starcraft Chieftain Express 25, and I'm extremely excited to get back and start working on her some. I used the word 'project', though she's in really good shape and most of the maintenance is cosmetic. She runs, drives, and floats! You all don't know it, but you've already provided me with lots of great information. Thanks for that.

I would love to show pictures of her, but for some reason I'm not allowed to show attachments?
