Re: Post a pic of your starcraft!

Ok guys, I figure it's time to officially join the Starcraft club by posting some pictures. It's a 1972 16ft SS with an Evinrude 50. I got it off Craigslist for $500. I didn't haggle with the guy, I thought it a fair price. It came with some nice things you don't normally get with a $500 boat. Nice cam buckle Rodsaver tiedowns, a transom saver, an Eagle fishfinder/GPS and a nice sized winch. The motor needs a starter, it keeps disengaging before it starts, but I did get it started the day after I got it. Here is a video of it running out on Solburg Lake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_kL9fah7DA

It ran out real nice on the lake. It was a calm day but I was very impressed with how it handled crashing through other boats' wakes, much better then my Lund Pike. This winter, I plan on restoring the hull and setting it up for Walleye fishing. I've got alot of ideas, I will start a thread when I have something to show. This is a great forum and it's great to see all the enthusiasm for old Starcrafts. I thought I was unique in my idea, because these things go for so cheap.

Man that thing runs out great with the 50! You stole that for $500. I'm sure it will work out great for what you want to use it for. I'm getting into fishing more myself which is why I'd like to trade up to an open bow from my closed bow. Where are you located?

I didn't realize I didn't have that on my header, I'm in Phillips, WI. It's all about aluminum boats around here. Lund being the King. I really like them too, but anything bigger than a Pike is just too expensive. Then I realized aluminum Starcrafts are cheap and I always liked the look of the hull, so here I am. They are lightweight though, and I will be even MORE scared of stump and rocks.

I forgot to bring my GPS with me when I took it out:mad:, and unfortunately the speedo didn't work. My other boat tops out at 23mph and I KNOW this one is faster, but I don't know how much.
I ran out and looked at the prop, it's 13 1/4 by 17.
I'm planning on selling the motor, if anyone is interested. It's mounted on an aftermarket Panther tilt/trim unit.

If ya dont want to go the above route..

If you open them in whatever photo viewer you have, there should be an "Edit" option that should let you resize them.
You can resize to 640X480, then save as the new size.
You can simply attach the pic to your post.

Here is my 1976 16.5' Starcraft Holiday. Boat purchased June 2009. As far as I can tell, all original, including floor (very solid). Mercury 650. I have done little other than cleaning and some minor mechanical repairs.

Rick,

I'll try to resize the pictures if you give me a hint as to how. It has only taken me aprox five hours to figure out how to get the pictures on line.
I can't insert pictures, but the smiles seem easy enough!

I'm wondering if anyone in the SC club is going to opt for this style of paint on a restoration project. CBK it's not too late to add some stars on the old starcraft:D
