Re: poeple putting stuff on your boat at a beach?

ok, to start off with i wasnt going to shoot him, just the beach to scare him away, i am not insane. second sure there is 40 foot of beach and true i parked in the middle, but my boat has a beam of like 8 foot? 8.6? and my uncle had his bowrider on the other side of mine with a beam of 7-8 foot? so there is 16 feet account for space between them and beteen to logs that my tax dollar put there with helicopters as fish habitat. doesnt leave but about 20 feet of beach that is relitively weed free and almost all sand.

this is not a camp ground its public land i accualy hunt with in a mile for deer season. the only poeple who swim at this little beach are the poeple on either of the 2 sites. although people can drive in and swim they do not but on rare occasions.

as for greenbush, salmon fishermen suck they are rude, messy, lawbreaking citizens on that river. they will cut your line if your fish gets near them and over half of them are snaged and still kept. the dnr accualy gave up writing tickets there because it doesnt help anything. the fishermen will go camping in the woods and leave there garbage everywhere for everyone else to pick up.

So let me get this right. You parked two boats in the middle of a 40ft public beach and a guy actually swam within 5ft of your boat and touched your anchor rope oh my mistake he was only hanging around it. How dare he??? thank God he didn't touch it that could have a caused real problem with your boat being grounded.

i dont have a problem with him swiming with in 5 feet of my boat its the fact that there was him and 2 girls and they were playing around near my anchor rope and outdrive, they accualy swam on between the anchor line and the boat hanging on the line at one point. I PERSONALLY DO NOT WANT TO BE SUED FOR THEM DROWNDING OR GETTING INJURED. also i dont want his sweaty nasty shirt where i put my head when i lay out on the bow.

I agree with him using your boat as a clothes line. Also the guy mentioned someone went in his cooler. Way over the edge. But water is water. Down here we back into the beach and have a long anchor line out in grass-mud out 30ft. 30-40 boats 5 feet a part and aft anchored to the beach. Everyone is friends and if not soon will be. It drops off to about 3ft 10ft off the beach. So if you know what you are doing your transom is in two feet with the dive platform at a foot. A lot inboards and outboards. We don't beach boats very often in salt water. With tide running at times pretty good. Makes it interesting when some new idiot runs over three or four anchor lines and pulls them loose. I won't comment on what type of boat they are normally in. But we all survive and no one gets hurt and no scatches. You yell and scream but really, what are you going to do?
Sometimes I read these post and think you guys are wound a little too tight.

Would be too much to simply nicely ask him to move his stuff off your boat, then forget about it? Or maybe that would be seen as a serious challenge to your manliness?

I guess it's no surprise that there's never been a boating ad campaign (like the old Honda motorcycle ads) that said "You meet the nicest people boating"!

Lets put this into perspective.

You have 40' of beach to share between two parties. That is very small area to begin with. But then, one of the parties park a boat in the middle of it and declare a no-swim zone around it. That is certainly accomdating to the situtation.

If indeed there was only 20' between your boat and the other end of the other beach, your no swim zone encroached on the other parties 1/2 of the beach and you where the one in the wrong.

With some people it's all about "Me and My stuff" (I,me,mine) and to heck with everyone else! They want the world to show them every consideration, but don't show any for anyone else.

They will sour even more as they grow older and will live a miserable life.

I can see this going downhill fast. someone parks in the middle of two parking places and is upset because someone gets close to them. Looks like this one is getting ready to be closed. I'm surprised it wasn't right after wanting to pull a gun and shoot into the beach just to scare someone. If you pull a gun make sure you are going to accept the consequences.

I probably shouldn't bring it up but is Cobia banned from the iboats forum? His post would have been fine had he added a smiley face at the end.

That's what I like about boating...there aren't an overwhelming number of rules...go where you want, anchor where you want, no stop signs or lane markers. If you're unhappy on your boat, chances are it's your own fault...don't be blamin' someone else like you do landside...up and go somewhere else.

I kind of disagree. Boating is like golf, there is a lot of etiquette. Give fisherman there space, never follow a boat pulling a tube/ski/wakeboard, prep boat before you launch, mind your wake weather you are in a no wake zone or not, don't cut through a party of sailboats, and so on. People ignoring these things has made many a P'd off boater. It's hard to relax when a 30 footer swamps your bow taking off at the end of the no wake zone (it's happened to me).

And I guess I kind of agree with you. We pretty much boat where we can be alone so there's no expectations regarding other boaters.

But I bet if I wanted to anchor up next to you I'd be welcome (I promise to keep my shirt on, lol).
