Here is Wisconsin, 40 vans that were to be used to help get voters to the polls by republicans had their tires slashed. The work of the more enthusiastic get out the vote types. ;)

Looking to help bolster voter's rights I am sure.

The mayor of Milwaukee, (democrat) ordered 900,000 ballots for a city that only had 235,000 voters last election and only 450,000 legal voters. Wonder why???

I heard a really thoughtful story out of Washington, but I will let you west coast members provide the details.

If you base the number of ballots on registered voters, you'll come-up way short on elections like this. Here in Wisconsin you can register at the poll. Then there is the semi-transient student population that you have to provide for. 450,000 "legal voters" refers to those that registered beforehand, probably mostly permanent residents that have been registered for a long time. Many communities had over 100% of the eligible voters cast ballots this year. That just means that everyone that was registered before Plus those that register at the poll. The ones that register at the poll are usually new move-ins, students, first-time voters, etc. As for the slashed tires ... considering we're talking about Milwaukee I'd suspect mindless gang vandalism rather than any vast left wing conspiracy. I highly doubt any gangbangers out there have any significant political inclinations.

Here in MO it went as smooth as could be expected.

At 6am when the polls opened, it was CRAZY, pulled in the parking lot, turned around and went to work.

Came back at 6pm, walked right in. They said they had 80% turnout at that precinct with an hour to go.

I had moved from where I was last registered. They have a system setup now, they voting judge calls into the county official who has a palm pilot with the entire state database, they pull up my info, give the judge my voter #, and told me where to go and gave me a new card to go there with. All of this took less than 2 minutes. Drove to my NEW polling place, walked in and placed my vote, that location too had over 80% turnout.

the sad thing about NY is that it's run 99.9%
by the liberals in NYC. if you removed NYC, bush
would win the rest of the state IMHO...

The same can be said about here....The Socialist Republic of Lucas County, State of Ohio.

A Republican does not have ice cube's chance in hell at winning Dog Catcher, much less any meanngful position. A republican sign has even a smaller chance of surviving.

The worst thing that happened here... also the funniest IMHO, the Democratic Party office was broken into and computers were stolen... nothing else. Long story short... it was an inside job, at least that is what police are therorizing. They have not charged anyone, and latest info, they are going to let the matter drop. The Dems are fighting amoung themselves here! :D

NJ went to Kerry, as expected. But at least I was able to run over two Democrats on the way to the polls. :D :D :D

mark 42 right on with NJ. Very disappointed with this state. But we rural types always get drowned out by the big city dems giving out stuff to get you to go to the polls. In Trenton I heard a report of poll workers showing people how to use the machines and they only showed them column B Dem side. Apparently election commision is investigating.

By the way where are you in Jersey? I'm in Warren county Phillisburg area.

Re: Please share your states voting shame stories.

Walked into the voting booth and there was a pencil with a candidate's name and website address on it.

Now this was a total waste, since he was running uncontested.

Sorry Willy, Barrett was way wrong by ordering all those ballots.
The 450,000 number is the total number of all adults in the city.
Total population is only 600,000. There is no way the city population doubled since the last election which was just a few months ago. There is absolutely no reason why they needed any more than the original 650,000 ballots that were provided. They still would have had more than twice the number they needed.

So what was the total number of votes cast in the city of Milwaukee??

There were only 480,000 votes cast in all of Milwaukee COUNTY !!

Re: Please share your states voting shame stories.

Me, my wife and two kids stuffed in a single voting booth with our PAPER ballots. No one said anything other to make jokes about registering the baby to vote. Then after we compared our two ballots outside the boot one more time, we stuffed them into the little recording machine. We were votes 468 and 469 on the little red display.

JG we are in Warren co, Blairstown area. We're neighbors!

Re: Please share your states voting shame stories.

Was the poll watcher in my precinct - 1300 "registered" voters (includes those that have been dead for a couple of years and ones that have moved away over the last few years). Had a LONG line when the polls opened at 7:00AM. Exceeded all passed voting numbers by almost 200! Including the absentees, had 915 votes cast, and not one problem. All went smoothly.

Speaking of shame, when will the democratic gerrymandering stranglehold on Illinois be corrected? I have always been amazed that such a blatant crime goes seemingly unnoticed for years and years!

-dd-

My states voting shame is that it went democratic, outstate does not have the strength to carry the metropolisis.countywide bush took 19k to kerry's 12k votes. I was voter #19 at 8:30 am out of 131 votes in my precinct. bushies were hoping for a win but we did have stronger #'s than usual so there may still be hope for the state.

The shame of Washington State was that they actually gave Kerry a 52% win!!! You'd think the folks here were from California, as liberal as most of them are!!!!

But no fear, I voted Bush...

Don't want to go into detail, but reps from the NAALCP were charged with disrupting the polls at one precinct. Appararently, the guy that blew the whistle had evidence and eye-whitnesses. Shamefull.

I'd really like to know just how many "snowbirds" are registered to vote, and do so, in more than one state....

Thank God I live in a low population state. My better half and I went to vote at a nearby school. No line, kids selling cookies and cupcakes out front for a field trip or something. It literally only took minutes, including the drive over. I think it took like 15 minutes, which included warming the rig up, driving, voting, buying a cupcake, eating the cupcake, driving back home, and turning the tv back on to look at the long lines in other places on TV. :)

Re: Please share your states voting shame stories.

I took this from a post I made yesterday. I thought it fit here.
Man I hate Maryland when it come to politics. There is 186,000 Dems, 78,000 independents and 86,000 republicans. As you can see if you add the Rep’s and independents there is still more Dem’s. Out of all the years I have voted locally it only counted once 2 years ago when I voted for our Republican Governor. IMHO the only reason he won was he was running against a very corrupt administration and a carpet bagger (Cathleen Kennedy- Townson ) from where all Kennedy’s are from Massachusetts. It took 12 years for people to finally wise up and vote those suckers out. The next election I don't know. Even with a 60% approval rating now I think the Democratic party could put up a monkey with a limp and mange as a candidate and give Governor Bob Ehrlich a run for his money. Really sad!
