If it's truly a "5.8", then it's a Ford 351. That's not a bad motor, but it hasn't been used in the marine industry since just after that boat was made. parts can be hard to find, and are A LOT more expensive than Chevy parts.

That's a Ford motor, so there might be an issue with some marine-specific parts, like manifolds.

BTW, NADA lists a 21' Hampton and a 23'. I wonder which this one really is.

Looks to me like a very nice rig and well cared for. I don't know that I'd let that engine scare me off.

Price is right for the northern Ohio area. If clean and not rotted out, that would be a good boat for the $$$.

Double check the motor.
5.8FL = Ford 351 block, Holley carb
5.8FI = Ford 351 block, Ford Electronic Fuel Injection

My last boat had 1995 Volvo Penta 5.8 FL and it perfomed great. Very responsive engine and it never gave me grief. 4bbl holley carb, water pump on front of engine, and servicing the engine was straightforward. Never had a challenge getting service parts and all partnos are avail on the Volvo Penta web site.

Oh yeah, there was also a fuel injected 5.8 FI that had a computer. IMO, I would not want that setup because I know in my area there would be little service techs that know anything about the Ford EFI.

Not experieced with that model outdrive. So I can't say.

With that much room in the cuddy, it just about has to be a 23 foot boat.

It is a Duoprop drive, very good drive to have, even though props are high$ sometimes. The ad says it is a 270 but that is just not accurate.
