I have purchased a Starcraft boat with an ID tag that reads 16' Jupiter, Serial# 63-16785, Max HP 80. It is aluminum hull. The title states it is a 71' but from reading threads I am thinking it is a 63'. The boat has a 80hp Evinrude Starflite selectric shift. Also have read that some people would recommend staying away from these, however, I was able to disassemble lower unit and diagnose why it would not shift and research and find parts to repair it. I have put it back together and everything seems to work. Now waiting for carb kit, then we are going to the lake. Would like to post pics and get some feedback. Have read and seen pics of some great restorations and personal touches. What a great site.

Please give me any suggestions. I bought this bought for $350.00. This is my first boat and the reason I bought it I have an avid 6 year old boy that loves to fish along w/3 yr old boy. Really looking forward to spending time with the family in our boat.

Congrats & Welcome OB. Actually it dosen't matter what year as far as we are concerned. It's a SC and they all have pretty much the smae hull. As far as the OB, if you have repaired it, RUN IT. Exactly what do you have to lose?
At the risk of being repetitive, pics please.

Yes, probably a '63 Jupiter. Especially if it has a plexiglass windshield. I think a '71 would have a flat glass one. That 80 should be great power for that boat. Cool that you got it running.

Welcome to the site...another Jupiter sounds like a nice rig.

Did we mention that we like to see pictures of vintage tin Starcrafts:D

BTW if you are able to repair electric shift mechanisms you may be able to rescue some off craigslist...since not many people have the skill and they can be gotten pretty cheap.

Nice rig, looks like it's already been worked on...based on how new that carpet looks.

That 'rude looks pretty aerodynamic, very nice looking outboard:D

Nice!

And it's cool to see what the dash on my jetstar is supposed to look like. :)
