I have a 1987 astroglass boat (178v) that I'm trying to repair. I've run into a problem and cant seem to figure it out. I'm trying to take the top hull off. I've gotten everything loose except where the transom is connected to the top hull and bottom hull. It's the only thing from keeping me from getting the hull off to replace the floor. I know it has to have a seam somewhere inside the boat at the back. I've already started cutting it from the inside but that didn't seem to loosen it. I've looked on the web but can't seem to find Anything other than on this website, a guy has a 87 astroglass 195v and he had the same problem. But im not sure if these models are put together the same . If someone knows or has done work on a boat like this one, please if you could help me , I would Appreciate it. Thanks I'll post pics on here if I need to or asked. Thanks.

Welcome aboard.

Your cap may have been glued or tabbed to the hull. You need to find a spot where it is coming apart ans work your way around.

It can be a real PITA.

Post some pictures ;)

Send a PM to cadwelder, He's done a LOT of work on Astro's and I THINK, having read several of his posts, that you just have to use a sawzall and cut down or up thru the transom cap to get it loose. He will know for sure.

Is a cadwelder a user name for a guy. I'm just wondering.

And yea it's Got to have a seam somewhere to cut. Just can't seem to find it. Don't wanna cut the wrong thing. It's about to drive me crazy. Thanks for the help though. If you find any more info , please let me know. Thanks
