I put many items on Craigslist and have them come to my house. You have a greater risk of getting hit by a car crossing the street.
I'd rather not sell it than invite some psycho to my house....no strangers come to my house!!....ever...

Thanks for proving my point!

There are 80 million ads on Craigslist every month. How many of these incidents do you hear of?

Like I said before, you are way more likely getting hit by a car stepping off a curb.

I spent a week vetting the buyer. He is a business owner and called me from his shop phone #. I even knew what he looked like before picking him up at the airport.

I have had people come to my house to look at things I have for sale, and as I normally have a .40 on my hip when I leave the house, in addition to a can of bear spray in my pocket, I don't get anything but a funny look, we always run the risk of running into a bear at my place, but it also lets people know that I am not going run away and duck. Also, when ever we have something for sale and someone comes up, My wife is paying attention the whole time they are here and she writes license plate numbers down and we normally let one of our neighbors know as they do when they have someone come to their house. We are a pretty close knit community up where I live and we all paying close attention to what is going on. Just wanted to ad, my also carries a .40 and is very good with it. She is a instructor for women's concealed carry permit classes.

Sig 45 was my companion that day. Rattlesnakes, ya know.

I carried a .45 1911 for many years when I was in the military, that had been custom made for me.
Well ... I was stayin' out of it until you typed THAT MT. The .40 must be pretty impressive to ditch a custom made 1911 in favor of it (unless yer' Uncle Sam made ya' give it back to him).

I love the feel of a well made 1911.

Who said, I ditched it? It is sitting in my gun safe, in a nice velvet lined rosewood box that was made for it. This was not a government issued weapon, I gave that piece of junk back to them, letting them know I was not fond of the 9mm pistol, however I did like the uzi I carried when in the middle east, it could spit some rounds out, I figured what it lacked in stopping power it made up for it with volume.

:D

When I was wounded, it was because my assault rifle jammed, and I told them if I was going to die, I would be depending on my own sidearm!

Whew! I was concerned for a moment.

I'm assuming that was a Beretta. Never cared for their action. I wound up with a 9mm, and it's okay. I used to shoot a Glock .40 competitively ... but I've been surprised at how easily a well made 1911 will actually carry concealed. I've always liked shooting 'em.

The Uzi can sure spit 'em out. I've never shot one. I have shot the MP5, though. Still a lighter round ... but, man is that a smooth gun.

When I was wounded ...
Y'know ... it's one thing to thank a guy for his service, and I try to do that as often as possible. It's something a little different when you know a man has been wounded in that service ... Thanks MT. I know it costs you guys more than time to have done that work for your country.

Ok you people with the guns keep me in mind. I am going to look at a item off Kijiji. If I'm not back by 1700 tonight, come looking for me..

On a more serious note, I am from rural Canada and buy tons of stuff off online, houses, cars, boats and the worst thing that ever happened was I paid to much. I totally agree common sense goes a long way. I once saw an ad for a 1969 Shelby GT500 for 5K. The reason for selling was it had a cigarette burn on the seat, this was obviously a scam.

I knew a woman who had people come to her house from CL. She was divorced and needed money. She was selling a lot of things. Some undesirables came back later and stole stuff from her property. Be careful of people "casing out" your home.

A couple of months ago the Marion, IA police invited folks to use the police station parking lot for their Craig's transactions. They are not going to provide protection or supervision, just saying go ahead and use the lot for meets.
