I have some black plastic wingnut looking things on my boat, that are used to hold on the little windshield on my pontoon. I'm not sure how they are removed and when I twist, it looks like it twists the the whole piece and I don't want to break it. Any info on these would be helpful.

Nylon hardware is common around glass. This way, when you tighten them too much, they will strip out before you break the glass. Common on boats, motorcycles, etc.

Most DIY stores carry a wide selection of nylon hardware.
