what size socket do i need for a merc alpha one gen 2?
i'm pretty sure it's a hex socket, but as i'm at work i cant se it, and want to pick it up on the way home.
thanks.
I got mine out with a 1/2 inch allen wrench. But you have to be careful. It is not an allen headed bolt its like a star head with 8 sides. Sorry cant look at mine because boat is still buried till the weekend! Grrrrrr! They sell the tool on ebay and it is a hinge pin tool look it up and you can see what I mean.
There is a Mercrusier specific tool that is supposed to be used, but from what I understand, even the pros use the 1/2" allen. Some even use an old cold chisel. Apparently they are usually made with 1/2" stock.
