Re: pis-ants

I haven't had ants for years. But, when I did I used terro and it got rid of them. It takes a week or even sometimes two to work though. They have to carry the stuff back to the nest and infect the whole colony. Only after the queen is dead will you be rid of the ants. So you can see how this may take a week or two.

As far as ****-ants. I never heard of someone actually calling ants by that name. Around here that is what we call children. I hope you aren't trying to kill them because they show up in the spring and crawl around on your counters. :)

One of the snake oils I bought guaranteed them to be gone in 24 hours or your money back. Guess what I mailed off two days later?
When I had an exterminator they were gone the next day.

LOL.
I think they are actually called Pharaoh ants.

Re: pis-ants

if is not to late in this thread, there is a web site, doityourselfpestcontrol.com. They have a some stuff called cyber wb. It is a powder that you dilute with water and use a garden pump sprayer to apply. One little scope dilutes into a gallon of water and will allow me to spray my foundation and flower beds (a 2000 square foot house). Cyber last about 3 to 4 months. One jug will last a long time and takes care of most insects and spiders. That website is great, you can look up your pest, and then get the different treatments. Most of the product is the same stuff exterminators use, I can not say enough go things about them. Just be sure to follow the label.
BTW the jug is about $35.
Good luck, Dave

Re: pis-ants

Thanks.
The Terro worked inside.
In spring, I'm going to have to concentrate on the many nests outside. I'll revisit this issue when the weather breaks in spring if I don't find another exterminator by then.

Terro is all I ever use. I even put the stuff by the anthills in the yard. Why wait till they come inside.

I have used boric acid and diatomacious earth. It will get rid of the ants, cockroaches and silverfish. It seems the sharp cristyline structure gets into their knee joints and cuts them apart. We get our supply at the local collage and mix it half and half and just spread it lightly along the trails. It is pet and children safe. No odor, no mess, a little slow to work completely.

Drug stores should be able to sell you these ingrediants.

For all you bayou folk, it will even slow down the gecko invasion as the gecko food supply dries up.

Now if someone would come up with a bottom paint that was so effective and so environmental frendly.....oh yeah, cheep too!
