Re: Pens vs Bruins
Not sure why anyone thinks they match up well with the Bruins....if they did, the Pens would not be getting such a spanking.
Bruins have the edge in nearly every facet of the game...coaching, goal-tending, forecheck and especially neutral-zone pressure. Chara is a true leader and captain, Sid is , well, a great hockey player.
The biggest difference between the two earlier series for the Pens is the size of the forwards that their defense has to cope with...and they can't handle it. Ottawa and New York caused them no problems....and Orpic was huge in both series.
When Lucic and Begeron and Horton are chasing the puck into the Pens end, the Pens' defence have that deer in the headlight look....and it shows in their play. Orpic has been almost a no-show.
Malkin finally showed up last night...I'll be interested to see how he does tomorrow.
The other big guns have yet to check in....and the trade deadline coups are, well, not such coups. Iginla is almost too slow to play in the regular season, and in the playoffs is a boat anchor; morrow is not even that good a pick-up.
As a Senator's fan, it is a lot like watching a replay of the 2007 Cup final against Anaheim. Ottawa had some character and avoided the sweep....but lost in 5.
It will be interesting to see whether the Pens can actually steal one in Beantown.
Getting swept would mean a long summer, and probably a coaching change.
