pass thru tilt pin steering

ok i know this is a nub question but here i go i have an 1974 glastron with a 1977 evinrude 85 hp i am trying to remove the engine i have every thing unhooked but the pass thru tilt steering arm can someone tell me how to unhook it:redface:

Are you meaning there is not enough room in the transom well, or is the cable rusted in? If there is not room with the engine down on the transom, you must lift the engine, then remove the cable.

the arm is not stuck in any way i am trying to fix the transom the fiber glass is cracking might be for rotting boards and i need to remove the engine but i can not get the push/pull rod out so do i have to lift the motor complete out then take the shaft out

There is a large nut on the starboard side of the tilt tube that holds the cable to it. Remove it and the cable should pull out.

yea i found the nut right away it was just stuck from old greese that had harden up in the tub it took some pulling but i got it out and took a shot gun cleaning kit (used for a 410 shot gun) and a drill to clean the old greese out and replaced the grees fittings it took a lote of work but the boat is finnished and back on the water thinks for the help

the tilt grease fitting do not grease the steering cable, they grease the tilt joint.
