Outdrive interchange?

Hi all, new guy nere, so be easy on me. I just bought a 1979 Crestliner Crusader 885 with the 165 I6. The outdrive is completely trashed. My question is, can I use a 120/140 pre-alpha outdrive on this boat? I have an older 1972 starcraft with the 4cyl 120hp in it. Bad motor but outdrive is fine. Thanks for any help!

Ayuh,... The gear ratio will be way off...

It'll take a Monster prop to go anywhere...
