Outdrive cannot clean

I'm thinking this is because my annodes didnt protect???. I've tried cleaning and also a little bit of sandpaper.But then I stopped pretty quickly. Any suggestions?On what to do with this before I put it back in the water. Do I paint it? Or just let it go until next year. I have replaced my anodes that were pretty beat up with magnesium ones for regular water

Looks like you have a little more going on than a used up anode.
Check to make sure your bonding wire(s) is still attached and working.

Boat left in water with shore power near by?

Yes at the marina left on tricle charger
You have a problem with your grounding system, trickle charger or someone else's charging system.
Need to sort it out before putting the boat back in the water

I checked the bonding wire it is frayed but still solid so ill replace.

Be sure that the bonding wire from the inner transom plate to the tiller bar is in good condition. Also that the engine is bonded to the transom inner plate.

and make sure the chargers are marine rated or disconnect the batterys if using auto chargers

I would pull the drives and paint them ASAFP.

Annual maintenance on moored boats is painting the drives, don't the zincs and doing a bottom job

Or start planning on replacing them

my 5 anodes ... and the painting ......1978 outdrive is a great job no corrosion ...

I don't have a lot of peeling paint as you can see so do I prime over that and then paint it over the Existing paint

MAR PRO zinc chromate primer , outboard and the stern drives aluminum....
THE SANDING IT OF THE PAINTING OFF !!!! ...cleaning it the mineral sprits ......... MAR PRO ZINC primer, 24HOURS ..THE LACQUER GLOSS BLACK ....
AROUND THE 75F HIGHER TEMPS . 24HOURS .... THEN THE DOUBLE THE LACQUER 2 DAYS AGO .... ALSO THE PROPELLER ...

MY OUTDRIVE 1978 AND TODAYS NO CORROSION ...

That one has a lot of pitting, I thought mine was bad!
the prep on that, is a few days worth of work, for sure.

2 days 1 hr each wet sand. I think it may not be pitted but calcified. Im sure i must prime and paint after this

yes, and you need to neutralize the corrosion, then use an etching agent or an etching primer.

yes the priming zinc ....MAR PRO zinc chromate primer ...

the sanding it 80 -120-180 .......
