petit alumaspray or the interlux outdrive spray or should I use the interlux trilux 33 and brush it on? I boat in salt water and will be leaving the boat in the water. I have heard that the spray cans don't work well.
if it contains copper and you use it on cast aluminium in salt water it WILL cause corrosion.
stick with a tin based and keep all other paints at least 1" away from the drive.
the warmer the area the worse the corrosion is.
in my area I have seen holes eaten into pontoons and drives even after an epoxy barrier coat.
if in doubt contact the paint manufacuer by E-mail for product compatability and application procedures.
this is something I do see a lot of.
Shaun, Use the Trilux on your outdrive. It is made for aluminum, however you must have sufficient primer and paint on the outdrive before applying the Trilux. Read the Trilux instructions.
I sanded the drive and used primocon primer and then I used petit alumaspray. I hear that the sprays don't work well so I was thinking of putting 1 coat of the trilux over the alumaspray. I will laquer thinner the drive 1st.
