I have a Mercury Saltwater outboard that is making a continuous beep from the warning horn when the key is in the on position motor not running. I have traced the problem to I think a low oil switch that goes into the bottom of the oil reservoir. I purchased a new switch installed it and with the tank empty I started receiving the loud beep. As I filled the tank with oil it did not stop as I hoped it would. I drained the oil tank again. Now if I turn the tank upside down the alarm will turn off.
Has anyone ever heard of these floats sticking and causing this alarm? Do I have to replace the entire tank?
Thanks for any help.
