What should the rpm be when put in reverse i have a volvo penta 350 not sure what model the leg is tho sometimes a loud bang - clunk when going in reverse any ideas welcome ,
The rpm should be somewhere between 550 and 750 depending on the engine.
Your best bet right now is to find out exactly what engine and drive you have. Without that, you can NOT get any specific answers.
Pictures are a wonderful way to start if you can't find any model and serial number tags on the engine or drive.
year of your boat will at least narrow the search a little bit.
