Re: Osteo Arthritis tips ??

I had a hip replacement 2 months before my 38th b'day.

Try everything else first, that is a LAST resort.
That said, you will know when it's time.

I had enough when i had to use the car lift to get up. couldn't sleep. Pain was tormenting. lost 5 years of my life. glad i waited for the latest procedure though. No regrets.

Hi guys , I thought I'd give a quick update.. I went to the specialist on tues. He said my hip shows only the beginning of OA so If I lose weight , do more exercise , and do the vitamin / supliment / propper diet changes , I should be getting many years from it with out intervention . He said the pain I was feeling was from the cyatic nerve and /or the muscles arround it being pulled , so it will go away - and is down to a minor ache now . I can even walk upright most of the time :p Oh so far I've lost 5lbs too! thanks peter

I had two friends who had hip replacements. They are both letter carriers and both are like brand new, now. When I first developed osteo arthritis,I took Osteo Bi-Flex brand of glucosamene and chondroitin, along with celebrex and tramodol. That helped with the pain for quite a while. When I reached 62 yrs.,I had both knees replaced at the same time.I retired the same year,2006 .I started playing golf and bought a boat!I've taken 20 yrs. off my life,or so it seems. If you don't have a rheumatologist,I think it's a good idea to obtain one. They are so much better qualified to care for any type of arthritis.Good luck with whatever you do!

Hi, sorry for your pain, I don't know if this is available in your area, but you can ask a pharmisist, there is this stuff called DMSO it was used to relieve arthritis pain, and worked for many people, it is a solvent, you clean the area to be applied, then rub it into that area. when I worked for a printing co. many years back, we were the first co. to print the lables for it, it has since continued to be used. had several customers that said it worked for them,I really do not recall what the letters stand for exactly. but it could help before more severe action is taken. good luck, either way
