Has anyone used this this single mix ratio lubricant in an outboard? I have a 1975 Johnson 70 hp.

Thanks

for a 75 johnson you want plain old tcw3. Opti oil is designed for opti engines. Besides it costs like twice as much.

Re: Opti-2 Two Cycle Lubricant

I am not sure what an opti engine would be but this lubricant is a single ratio
for any two-cycle engine and according to the directions the mix is one ounce per gallon. I have used it for years in small engines but I have been unsure if it is safe for outboards.

As long as it says TCW-3 (marine) (has lower ash content.) And you are running 50:1 ratio you'll be good to go. Do not run TCW-3 in your weed eaters or saws either....

Re: Opti-2 Two Cycle Lubricant

If you mix 1 oz/gal (128::1 ratio) of any oil(including Opti), and run it in your Johnny, it will seize. If the Opti oil is TCW-III, you may use it at a 50::1 gas oil ratio. If it is not TCW-III, it could harm the yur OB.

Been using Opti-II for 10 years now in all my 2-stroke engines. No problems...

I believe that if you read the label on the Optimax oil container it will say something like the following:

*OptiMax oil is ONLY for use with OptiMax outboard engines and is NOT approved for use with EFI or carbureted engines manufactured by Mercury Marine, nor is it recommended for use with engines from another manufacturer.

The Opti-2 oil being discussed is not related to Mercury.

Works great in ATV's and chain saws. Definitely not intended for marine applicants. I have a couple of packets laying around my shop, but never got around to mixing it up.
