Just picked up a 71 tri-sonic riviera 18' tri-hull with a merc 165. The hull is in decent shape has one patch about 2' long on the keel that was 2 protect the scratches that were already in it. Gell coat seems in okay shape alittle oxidized but not bad. The engine runs good needs carb rebuild and tune up. Floors are solid as a rock. The rest of the interior needs redone which is what im used to doing with my projects, new carpet bow seats and new ply in the back to backs. Gauges and console in good shape trim works good. All sitting on a newer tandem axle trailer thats in great shape just needs a tire. Picked it up for $325 from a guy who hadnt used it in 2 years and needed to make a house payment. I estimate having under 1k in it when redone. Does anybody have any opinions on the tri-sonic boats of that era cant find alot of info on it cept that it weighs 2500lbs

I don't have a comment on the brand but an 18' with a 6cyl sounds like a real nice combo and if the deck is solid you did real well.

Yep, sounds good. Don't forget to check and make sure the transom is solid. Nice find! We need pictures!

Thanks the transom seems just as soled as the floors no signs of rot. Seems that all the wood in this boat was heavilly coated with epoxy to seal it up I dont have any pics as of yet but when i get a chance i will get them up. Been to busy cleaning all the junk out of it lol. Musta done alot of skiing behind it found like 8 tow ropes so far. Kinda fun cleanin the junk out found 3 good anchors already too.

i grew up sking behind a 16' trisonic. a caprice 1700.. that's 16'... :D

anyways, mines gone to heck, in need of full rebuild. but when she was up and running it was a dandy boat. very stable, reasonable speed, handled very well. i liked it. dad pulled three of us (teenage waterskiers) out from a deep water start one day. 2 of us on 1 ski. the 165hp struggled, but we all got up...
i've tried to research trisonic too. also to no avail. not much out there on them i don't know why.
