An honest man is being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy
boulevard. Suddenly, the light turns yellow, just in front of him. He does the honest thing, and stops at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.
The tailgating woman hits the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she misses her chance to get through the intersection with him.
As she is still in mid-rant, she hears a tap on her window and looks up into the face of a very serious police officer.
The officer orders her to exit her car with her hands up. He takes her to the police station where she is searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approaches the cell and opens the door. She is escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer is waiting with her personal effects.
He says, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the "Choose Life" license plate holder, the "What Would Jesus Do" bumper sticker, the "Follow Me to Sunday School" bumper sticker, and the chrome plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk."
He shrugged. "Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."

Road rage? That isn't crap.

Last week I was with my 76y/o grandad and some yuppy middle agged women passed us, game us the finger and yelled out he window at us, my grand-dad remaining very calm pulled up next to her in the two lane from we where on and cut her off, the old man ran the bitoch right over the sidewalk and one to a yard, then without saying a work or looking back kept going, like nothing ever happend :p

I got home and told my dad because I thought my grand-dad maybe didn't mean to do it, he is getting old in all, we my dad thought it was funny and said "you should have seen him when he was my age!!"

Re: Ooops!

Good post JB,

Sure got me laughing. We all get stressed sometimes and even the best of us (not me) lose track of what's really important and where to look for help. Christians are human too and sometimes need to remember that they're no better than any other. Jesus dined with the sinners because we are the ones who need Him most. Thanks for the laugh ;)

Re: Ooops!

Good joke, JB! Flathead's comment about reaction time reminds me of a time I was stuck in traffic at a red light. The truck in front of me was driven by a good friend of mine so I honked at him. The light had just turned green but there was about 10 cars ahead of him. He didn't reconize me or my car for some reason, he just thought" Who is this______, honking at me when the light turns green" After we got past the intercection and traffic lightened up I was able to pull up beside him and he saw me.
I ran into him later in the week, and he told me how mad he was till he reconized me and knew I was just saying Hi! And no, it wasn't April 1st.

Re: Ooops!

I can't understand how drivers can get so mad, when you are doing the "Maximum posted" speed limit in the fast lane. I guess they don't think that the slow lane is for those traveling under the "maximum posted" speed limit.

You want some attention. Try doing the posted speed limit on the high way in the left hand lane. You will get more people waveing and honking their horn at you then you have ever gotten. What I like is the people who are comeing up on you about 100 yards back, and they are already flashing their head lights at you.

I just think it's hillarious that they get so upset. They are the ones breaking the law and acting like they are above everyone else, and should have an open road with no one in front of them. They throw a fit like we have done some major transgression against them.

Sorry, this is one of my pet pieves. I could talk a long while about idiots in motor vehicles. They are just lucky I decided against becoming a police officer. I would have used the night stick joke as a roadside training aide.

In case you haven't heard that joke.
A person runs a stop sign and an officer pulls them over. The person driving says, "but officer I slowed down and there weren't any cars coming." The officer tells them to step out of the car and starts beating them un-mercifully with their night stick. The officer says, "Now, should I slow down or stop?"

Re: Ooops!

Hi, Sam.

Here in Texas, the law is that the left lane is "for passing only".

In most states the signs say, "Slower traffic keep right."

If you are not passing, if there is a vehicle behind you that is going faster. . . MOVE THE HECK OVER!!

If someone else is exceeding the posted limit, let the law deal with it. Left lane loafers (including those doing the posted limit) cause a great deal of road rage.

Re: Ooops!

Man, I'm with you JB... It's not the fast lane, it's the PASSING lane. What does anyone care if I drive faster than the speed limit? It's my ticket to pay. Who made the slow guy in the passing lane, who's not passing anyone, the "Keeper of the Speed"? It's all about control.

And I don't get upset... but don't flip me the bird when I pass on the right and squeeze in front of you... you forced me.

Re: Ooops!

OK, here is the question. How can you be going faster than me when the maximum speed limit is what we should be doing? Who gave you permission to determine that you are above the rest of the population? And why can't I use the passing lane for passing those not doing the speed limit? In this state, the left lane is not only for passing. While driving in other states, I do as the law states. I only use the left hand lane for passing.

And What Country might this Be ?????

Because on an Interstate Highway in the U.S. of A., I'm Sure there are Signs stating,
"Slower traffic keep right."
And these signs make No Mention of the Speed Limit..................

Re: Ooops!

I see both sides of this coin.If you doing the max posted speed limit in the left lane, one would have to use a bit of imagination determining whether he was slower traffic. If you are driving in the left lane at the posted speed limit and another vehicle is closing fast on your rear,it is downright unsafe to change lanes assuming that the other vehicles driver won't try to slingshot past you on the right. It happens quite often. If you are doing 60 mph in a 70 max zone, then by all means drive in the right lane.I've never heard such a law that the left lane is "strictly" for passing on an interstate.I think people who like to drive 80 wish it was.

Re: Ooops!

I used to haul trusses and wide loads all over Florida for my fathers business back in the late 80's. I enjoyed my short trucking carreer.

I believe that the left lane........which came after the single lane.... was put there to afford faster moving cars a means of passing slower moving traffic specifically big loaded trucks. It is a must on mountain or hill.

I read an article back that all traffic should stay to the right no matter what the speed is. I makes good sense. If everyone follows at a safe distance and passes in the passing (left sam) lane
the flow of traffic will be smother and lessen the risk of accidents. Remember the 1# rule? avoid accidents and unnecessary risks. Also you will avoid speeding tickets if you stay to the right as much as possible because smokey is studying the passing lane almost solely with his eyes. If your speeding with a pack hes going to take the folks in the passing lane over the right lane almost all the time.

Bubba and (forgot his name from the panhandle)where are you guys?...correct me if I'm wrong on this..

Also Sam, those idiots flashing their lights are practicing the universal signal that means: please move to the right so I can pass and I dont have to waste precious oil getting back up to speed not to mention reseting the cruise control.

Re: Ooops!

Excuse me, but NO ONE is forcing anyone (or everyone) to drive in a a pack at high speed.
And no one is forcing you to pass on the right, (do you mean the shoulder?).

You and you alone are responsible for the actions you take when driving, whether it be on the road or on the water.

Question:
Don't us slowpokes have the right, duty and responsibility to use the road safely? That includes using the left lane at the posted speedlimit to pass slower traffic in the other lane(s).
Answer: YES

Question:
Don't you have a responsibility to drive in a prudent manner, and use caution around other vehicles and traffic situations?
Answer: YES

I'd love to see how many of you are following at the proper distance behind a vehicle. You remember, the one second for every 10 mph rule.

Question:
So how am I supposed to get out of YOUR way, if pulling into the next lane puts me on top of another vehicles' bumper, and speeding up makes me illegal and puts my passengers at risk and may or may not put me in a position to move into the next lane? Just think what you would do if I would slow down to find a spot to move into.
Answer: I don't get out of your way till its safe, and suits my needs.

Hmmm, lets see, how many of you live in states that have a 55mph limit for all vehicles towing a trailer?
Mass. PA NY are all 55mph.
TX is 60mph

BTW, we (truckers) virtually shut down Milw a few years ago when some politicians wanted to mandate all trucks and trailers to the right lane. They were on the radio talking about it and within a half hour, the cb's were humming. Every truck was in the right lane, 50-55mph. No one could get to the exits or enter the highway. Onramps were backed up to the top. We're talking 2 interstates and a couple of US highways. That put an end to that idea real fast.

And for those of you that want to quote the "slower traffic keep right" signs, I'll quote one myself,
Speed LIMIT
The "slower" traffic is referring to the traffic that is going SLOWER than the limit, not slower than YOU want to go.
