OMC Stringer Ball Gear Cover

I have heard about them, my White Boat Anchor does not have one and until now have never seen one. For others with a similar dilema here it is:

Get one! It was a recomended retro-fit. It keeps the cool water around the balls and cuts down on stess and wear.

My '75 electro shift did not have it, my '79 hydro-mechanical replacement did.

Mine does not have a cover. In fact, I have never seen one with a cover. Was this prior to the mechanical shift?

Mine and Boomyal's 75 Electric Shift do not, but his 79 Hydro-Mechanical does. I posted the picture to show it actually does exist and what it looks like. I plan to keep a lookout for one to see if it will fit, which my guess at this point is it would.

It's called a water deflector #909267 .Now a vintage part.Looks like it mounts on the top two seal retainer hsg bolts,and would be easy to fabricate.
