OMC grease leak

my OMC lower unit leaks grease right behind the prop, is there a seal there that can be replaced by just removing the prop ?

Yes and No. There is a seal there, but it takes a little more then just removing the prop. You also need to drain the oil and pull the bearing carrier.

Pull the prop and see what is there. Often there is just some fishing line in the seal. If removed properly that may be all that is necessary.

To remove fishing line from the prop seal you treat it as a sleeve. DO NOT grab a piece of line and start pulling, this will cut the seal for sure. Try to coax the whole wad out by working it out as a bundle, pulling straight out along the shaft.
