I have a 1988 Johnson 70 HP and need a Binnacle control but all i can find is one for a 1996 and newer for around $400 and i would need to purchase and adaptor for another $150. Any ideas?
Check the salvage yards http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=438822 or fleebay. If you have a standard set of controls you can pull wiring harness out of it and dash mount the key and then use after market controls which you will finds here on iboats.
you need a post 96 controls to pre 95 engine, harness.
thats the best i can say they are called..
I have seen them on ebay..I have one.
they take the red plug from the motor and turn it into pigtails that fit the newer controls.. hopefully you can find a short one, so you dont have a ton of coiled extra harness to stow away.
