I have an 84 beachcraft with a 5.7 liter engine. What would be the easiest way to remove the motor. Can I just unbolt bellhosing like a car. I do have a decent amount of room for motor to slide forward.

Being a 1984, you have a stringer drive.

Remove outdrive, remove boot, unbolt stringer mounts andbpull motor and intermediate housing as a unit

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... I suppose ya could, But,.....

The motor is mounted to the hull, 'n the drive is only mounted to the motor,.....
If ya do it yer way, the drive could roll out the back of the hull, onto the ground,.....

I looked at it and actually the drive is mounted to the floor on each side by itself, so it would not fall out. So Im thinking I could just unbolt bellhousing and front motor mount and out comes the engine.

The motor is mounted to the stringers ... which are at the same level as the floor. If you unbolt the bellhousing, with no prep the intermediate drive and the stern drive will fall to the ground.

Your prep should be to remove the stern drive. Then remove the boot. You probably don't need to remove the bellhousing. Unbolt engine from the mounts, and hoist away.

Do it your way and damage the boat

Follow the manual which is just a bit more indepth than post #2 and 5 and you avoid damage. Pay particular attention to the correct method if disconnecting the lower shift cable.

Keep in mind also the difficulty in sourcing these parts....being extra careful to not damage stuff will help in the long run...
