Have you had one ? What was your favorite ? Do you miss them ?
Would you restore one if you could find it ? Memories you had on a wooden boat ?
What outboard was on your wooden boat. What engine if inboard. Planking or plywood ? Memories.
Anything wooden conversation.

Grew up on and around them, nothing beats a beautiful mahogany or teak boat visually however that experience (wood boats leak from the top down and bottom up) was what made me decide I didn't actually want one of my own unless I struck it rich and could afford to pay someone else to maintain the wood. In my family there was:
1959 Post
Prohibition era Kofoed rumrunner 50'
1948 Chris-Craft DCFB 46'
1956 Chris-Craft express cruiser
1942 Century utility 16'

Sailed on a 28' wooden boat built around 1972.----Did not leak at over 30 years old.----It is still in the water today.----Hope to sail on a 30' sistership soon against the 28 footer.----Wooden boats built by a Vic Carpenter.

I remember when first launching a wooden plank boat a 24 hour vigil was in order until the wood swelled, after that dry for the season. The first time I launched a plywood boat others were like " what are you waiting for ? ".
