I can't. But I'm surprised there isn't a way to access the inside of the console to see.

So aim a cell phone under the console and take pictures.

not my boat. son-in-laws, told him years ago to replace it. changed mine years ago . fairly easy job. I will have to look myself when I am there. just thought someone offhand would know if it was a rack and pinion or radial type. thanks for the reply.

Judging by the ones I've seen/worked on over the years, my bet is radial - but I'd hate to have you buy the worng one based on that info.....

its what ever Crest got a good deal on when they built the boat in 1995. could be rotary, could be rack. it literally is what they got a good deal on that week.

Unless I'm mistaken, another factor might be how much room is available. I'm thinking the rack setup needs/uses quite a bit more room? Pretty tight in some of these consoles....

Admittedly my experience with consoles and steering is very limited (two), but I can't imagine how a person could install steering into a console without being able to access the inside. I'm betting on some kind of hidden access panel or hidden screws.

Tommy, our OP isn't on site to access the inside of the console. The way I'm reading it is he wanted to have the right cable with him when he gets there...
