Old manifold question

So, I've taken a short break from troubleshooting my new salvage engine.
I may have a bad manifold, so have been on the lookout for one on Craigslist
and OfferUp, just in case. I am going to "acetone test" when I finish all the
"get ready for winter and rain" chores (I'm in the Pacific Northwest near Olympia).
Anyway, I saw this very old manifold a guy got in barter in Portland. It looks to
me like it might be an aluminum manifold for the 1964-1966, 150hp, 230 cu in
inline 6. As far as I can tell, it appears that you have to disassemble the bottom
baffle in order to access the studs to mount to the block. Might need to replace
the two gaskets for the baffle (about $60 for the two of them which appear to at
least be available). Does anyone have experience with this old manifold?
If it's really in "new" condition for the manifold, dual carbs and riser, it seems this
might be a deal. Or is the fact that it's aluminum kind of a non-starter? I'm guessing
that the manifold will mount okay, but not sure if the riser has the same dimensions.

My "new" salvage engine is about a 1970, 250 cu in, 165 hp. I think the difference in
displacement is just the stroke.
Any input is appreciated!

Cant answer about the manifold

However the 230 is a smaller bore version of the 250 ( same stroke )

My dad would know more than I, being he has a spare NOS 110hp sitting in his garage from the same era, which would have a similar manifold, and a 1966 boat with the old style drive... However I'm pretty sure they are totally different. I don't know if they will or won't work, but are totally different

Hi Gregg, I posted on one of your earlier threads Hit me up I just replaced head gasket, manifolds and riser on my "milky oil" engine and got rid of the milk completely. I'll help guide you through this process. this above manifold does not look correct for a 165 inline 6 mercruiser. Actually they are different OEM part numbers completely. Also the carb set up is all wrong. I would save all the $60 manifolds on any garage sale site but they all have holes coming out of this era I asked the last guy if i came if i could test it his response was (NO). I bought 3 for a total of ($80) before I gave up and bought new. The whole rebuild to get your oil clean will be about $750. (Thats what I have in it) Fredwarnermarine.com for the riser = $139 shipped
Marinepartsource.com for the manifold = $490 shipped
and ebay for misc gaskets and other parts.

the 165 did not come dual carbed so this will pose an issue even if the bolt pattern and exhaust pattern are similar.

I think the earlier 150 hp/230 cid version of the straight six was offered with that or a 2 bbl rochester. May have been like '65 or '66 years

Correct! And this setup may bolt up and work.. But I'd have to see it. The OEM Part numbers are different. I'd just buy new I wouldnt mess with anymore used Manifolds its just not worth it. These engines will take a lot of abuse but when your trying to clear up a problem its best to just replace the items you find are clearly damaged. All though the gasket manifold OEM Part numbers are the same you'd have to make adaptations to make this work with the 165 block
