i have aquired a 1957 15 ft. alum. lawney, it has cleaned up pretty nice, few scratches and the top of the bow has some pitting, any way to these out?
have had it acid washed, that really helped with the cleaning, it has set in various tool sheds for the past18 yrs.
most imporntant has anyone heard of this brand, and matbe share any informationon it.

Re: old boat

I never heard of Lawney, is there an address or any other info on the hull?
As far as the pitting, I did one that was pretty well pitted up and used JB weld like body filler after sanding and lightly glass beading the bad areas ever so lightly. I then sanded it and repainted. The result was an invisable repair after the coat of heavy epoxy paint. I also epoxied the interior holes with a plain epoxy just as an added measure. I don't think this will every leak.

Do you have an pics of that boat?

I just saw an 11 1/2 footer in Washington State this last weekend. It was really unique. I tried to buy it but they said the bought it from a 99 year old guy and they have had it for 24 years. Not for sale.

The quickest way to clean up a aluminum boat is
1, a 50/50 acid water bath .don't leave it on long
2, minor abrasions, start with 1000 grit sandpaper. Go up in 200 grit incriminates.
3, a polish I like WHITE DIAMOND, with a buffer. This will have a polished effect. If you do it enough, it looks like chrome!
