Old 488 replacement idea

What’s a good replacement engine for the old 488. The one I have is bleeding coolant and possibly seized. Any ideas of a good replacement motor I was thinking the 3.0

3.0 is most drop in but will give up some power5 hp. 4.3 is more work potentially but makes similar or more power than a 488.

what size boat is it in?

I would go 4.3 or 5.0 vs the 3.0

despite popular opinion the 3.7 I think it's a great engine. power diff between a 3l is huge. 4.3 is a bit of a bump in power but not as much as you'd think. I might change my tune if I can get a few more hp when i rejet my carb. for the work involved I'd consider rebuilding the 3.7. @Scott Danforth knows where you can get a couple of 3.7l bobtails
