Kids don't need to earn a few bucks these days- they're all spoiled brats who don't know what work is!
These days, you wouldn't want a local kid splitting wood. They've never used an axe, wedge, or maul before. They're just as liable to injure themselves as get any wood split, then sue your xxx off.

I take every dang job I get, and to be honest, I get out and split wood just to relax. I would love to find a job splitting wood. Just, Wisconson is to far to ride my bike after school.
We have the equivalent of about 3 of your loads (our truck brought it home in one
) laying in the yard, and if it wasn't up the high 90's and 100's, I would split it all. I started doing it a couple weeks ago, and dad thought I was crazy, and told me to wait until it cooled a bit. It ain't to hot for me.
Hey Pony, I am sure I ain't the only one like me in the world. If you have a maul, or a wedge and sledge, you outta be able to find someone.
Those big ones are a pain in the neck though. Back before we had a big enough maul (basically a big wedge shaped hunk of steel, welded to a 1 1/2 inch round tubin'.) I got pissed a log about that size, and put it in the hydraulic press, with the wedge. Worked just fine, but takes time. I got the log split though
