I have a 1993 Mercury 60hp 2 stroke 3 cylinder. I replaced the Oil warning module and senser but the the intermitent beeping continues. How do check if the oil pump is working properly?

check the float in the tank. there is no sensor for the pump on that model. if the module is known good then its usually the float switch in the oil tank.

Sorry I called it a senser but I replaced the float also. When looking at the carburators I notice the presense of oil. So I'm thinking the oil pump is working.

Re: Oil Warning alarm will not shut off

does the horn self test properly with key on power? also try dissconnecting the two blue wires from the tank to the module. test the tank switch. there are a lot of engines running about that have no low oil warning :) I just tell them to top off the tank before each fishing trip. then rewire the overheat around the module. but to keep it original test all the inputs then buy another module or tank assy. sometimes the float sticks and even with a new sensor it is still giving false info. best I remember the only way to change the float is to change the oil tank.

Thats what I have been doing. unplugged the blue wire to get the warning alarm to stop and keeping the tank topped off. So there no way of verify if the oil pump is working?

Re: Oil Warning alarm will not shut off

I had the same problem with my 1993 115hp last year. It turned out that the float inside the tank came disconnected from the magnet. The float still floated but the magnet stayed down in the tank around the sensor which caused the alarm to sound constantly. I could pull the magnet up with a coat hanger and the alarm would stop. Like Rodbolt says... the only way to fix that problem is to replace the whole tank assembly. My local parts shop sells the tank assembly for about $35. I still haven't fixed it yet, I just top off the oil after every trip. It's on the "to do" list.

fish and rick<br /> the floats on the 3 and 4 cyl motors always gave problems. I have seen people leave the oil switch wires dissconnected and just topoff the oil tank before each trip. I would prefer to see it get fixed

One way to check if your oil pump is working is to check the spark plugs and make sure they are at least a little oily. If they are dry you need to get it fixed. Most likely your problem is the oil tank float as said above.
