this is how you fill a Cobra. First get new plastic drain plug screw gaskets for the dipstick and drain and fill plugs (last 2 are the same, the dipstick takes a bigger one).
You unscrew the top dipstick/screw before draining from the bottom most drain plug on the bottom of the drive, and place it in the hole in the top cover. Then remove the bottom most drain plug on the outdrive. Allow it to drain it takes a while.
Then replace the drain plug at the very bottom of the lower unit. You then slowly fill it from the fill opening as in this pic below, until it reads full on the dipstick that is resting in the hole in the top cover. Then tighten the dipstick in the top cover. Next get the fill plug ready, unscrew your gear oil pump and quickly replace the fill plug. Let it sit for a while then re-check the level, if not full on the dipstick you can add whatever you need from the hole in the top cover and replace the dipstick.
NOTE: you should get approx 2qts in the outdrive....if you filled from the bottom drain plug opening, it is probably low on fluid, do not run it unless you are sure it's full!
