I had a small oil seep from the pan when the engine was running. I pulled the engine out to make other repairs and I had a question about a broken seal around the dipstick tube.

It was hard to get a picture of the broken seal.
How hard would it be to replace this seal?
Where would I get one?
Could I just something here? http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing.htm
Thanks

Re: Oil Pan seal question

I just did a reman engine on my 4.3 v6 the sealant was gone but my dipstick tube had a hub or a stop around it where the dipstick goes into the engine block so I just used high temp sealant and gently tapped it in tight, 10 hrs and no leaks, I did think about welding it in.

Re: Oil Pan seal question

they are generally just tapped into the block (compression fit). that looks to be clear RTV.
