oil for 400 omc outdrive

what type of oil should be use for the lower part of the drive and is it the same type used for the upper part of the drive

Assuming you have a mechanical shift, or hydro-mechanical, same fluid in both top and bottom. I use Amsoil synthetic 75w-90. You should either use a synthetic or pick up some marine grade hypoid.
