QC, you lost me there.....True, the air quality in L.A. has improved vastly.....How much of that has to do with the governor? Doesn't the legislature pass the laws...(For the most part)You can see that environmental improvement yourself as a native of that area, I'm sure......Stricter air pollution controls, clean water acts & such are not the Republican, or corporate agenda.....Any one who seeks to preserve the environment is deemed a lefty "tree hugger" & such.....Left unchecked, corporations, enabled by the Republican agenda would rape the country-side, given the chance.... Unless the profit was in preservation....ANWAR, is a classic example of the would be pillage.....Though that is partly greed on the people of Alaska themselves, who are gonna need a new source for their welfare checks when the north shore runs dry.....
Inhaling any kind of smoke can't be good for an individual, period......That just seems like a no brainer to me.....I'm not saying that you can't smoke....Just go outside & do it, so I do not have to breathe your potentially harmful fumes. Simply put, if you are smoking indoors, you are creating the hazardous situation, not me.....Therefore, you gotta go, & I get to stay.....Why should I be inconvenienced by your evil habit? It is an evil habit & you will not convince me otherwise.....& an incredible waste of money to boot..... ;)
Have a good trip, BTW :) Do a couple of black diamonds for me......JK

LOL " I like to walk through the smoking section and fart."
My brother inlaw had a bumper sticker that said "I don't mind if you smoke if you don't mind if I fart".

Neat you can burn an American Flag on the steps of the steps of the supreme court but not a cig. Welcome to the commune.

I wonder how the Amish feel everytime someone starts a car or truck near their homes? Should they be protected? It's not fair that they have to breathe our exhaust fumes. Lets pass some laws. How about sex. It spreads far more disease than cigs? Yea, you will need a permit to get it on. In this way we can "PROTECT" everyone. Seems fair. Thank god the law is there to tell private business owners who their customers are. Lets stop restaurants from serving alcohol, people die and not always the people who were at the restaurant. That would make the world more safe, this is a great idea!!!!

This is heavyhanded and twisted. If they want to honestly protect the public make them illegal. All other avenues are disingenuous.

Pointer, your leaps of logic are truly dizzying....Cars are pretty much a necessity in todays society, tobacco smoking hasn't been a necessity since we got done robbing the Indians of their land....IE, peace pipe.....Drink all you want, as long as your bad breath doesn't affect my health, I don't care..... :p .....JK

Perhaps you see these analogies as a leap. Cars are not a necessity in todays society of the Amish. Tobacco smoking has NEVER been a necessity. Sex today is clearly more dangerous to society than a cigarette. Burning an American flag will release more chemicals than a cig.

As I said earlier, if our politicians were truely concerned for the public interest they would make cigarette sales illegal. But hey, what a bout the money? But what are private property rights anyway?

Most politicians main concern is filling the coffers & lining their own pockets....I can't wait to see what happens when Abramoff sings like a canary.....He had some dealings with Mr. DeLay.....But it does appear that both sides were compromised by that scoundrel(Abramoff). If the government could figure a way to tax sex or air, for that matter, they would do it....As long as it would lower income taxes for the corporations & the rich, because that is who the electorat panders to. As for the Amish, at least their "cars" exhaust is biodegradable :) .....JK
