Re: "Official" Lost Season 2 Discussion Thread - Avoid this if you hav
This show does a good job of frustrating me, while making me want to watch the next episode just out of half-hearted curiosity. I watched several of the first episodes last season with keen interest and excitement, but then I had to miss the rest of the season because I was busy. After watching the recap, I realized I didn't miss much of anything because almost nothing gets answered in each episode and I didn't really learn anything new about the characters. It's kinda like the twilight zone, but without the smart answers or smart reasons for things that happened. Must be fun being the writers without any parameters to adhere to or having to worry about answering things. I think the reason the actors don't know what is going to happen next is because the writers don't either. Maybe I'm too much like Dr. Sheppard, "science guy", and not enough like Locke, "faith guy". I think Locke is a dynamic character though, I really like him a lot. I like the fact that the island seems to be forcing hidden abilities upon people that couldn't achieve in their previous lives. I also agree with you eeboater, that the orchestrated music is really great. I'm going to try and be the "hopeful guy" and continue watch this season's episodes for awhile. The show really needs a few smart answers to a few things while it continues it's relentless piling up of the "whys". It's fun to get really lost, but the best part is finding your way out of being lost. I'm not sure the show will deliver that even partially or even if that's their goal or even if they have a goal. I know I sound like I hate the show, but I don't. I think the show has a lot of potential to be really cool, but it hasn't made it to that level... yet. If what it has been is all it ever becomes, then I'll look back and I'll have to start agreeing with Chief on this one.

Right now, I'm going to stay excited and curious to watch the next episode because I'm "hopeful" and... there's a lot less to do in winter than there is in summer!

By the way, the opening of season II was cool. I couldn't figure out what was happening... was it a commercial? was I on the wrong channel, what's with that cheezy music? Is it a flashback of someone? who? nah, couldn't be the rich kid, could it? It's not Jack, is it? Can't be the Sawyer, right? Then, hearing the hatch blow from inside and making the connection... That was done very well!
