I just want to point out that this statement is wrong on two accounts. If the car is not able to be returned to pre-loss condition, it is a total loss. Not because of its ability to be insured. And secondly, they would not owe him a new car. They owe him the actual cash value of his car, up to any stated policy limit. Big Difference, compared to a "new" car.

And if you decide to buy your total loss car back, no insurance co. will ever write a full coverage policy on it again.

Although you can buy a policy with a new car replacement rider, that would be useless in this case. This particular car is irreplacable.

I have had a Garage Keepers policy for 27 yrs., thankfully I've never had a
claim. I think that would get into a really "gray" area in this case.
