Ok I know these may seem like dumb questions, but I have little knowledge of engines and engine repair--So I have a couple of quick questions--Input is greatly appreciated!

1) I am going to replace my lower unit on a 1970 75 HP Evinrude--Is the lower unit something that I can get off easily with basic knowledge or do I need to take it to someone who has worked on them before?

2) While I have the lower unit off I am going to replace my water impeller kit--My question is do I need to purchase the impeller kit for my original 1979 75 HP motor or would I need to get it for a 1978 70 HP, which is the lower unit Im putting in...?

Again thanks in advance for advise/input!

the impeller kit should match the lower unit model/year. as for difficulty, i would recommend buying the service manual but the only tricky part is disconnecting the shift linkage to allow the lower unit to drop. other than that just bolts/screws to remove

are these 20" transom lower units?...looks like the 15" transoms won't swap...I used boats.net to look up these model years and compare gearcase housings
