We have a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder OMC that has just been overhauled but when we run the motor, we are not getting any water , The water pump is fine. Could it be the exhaust manifold? It's a 1988

It could be the manifold or riser. But how do you know the raw water pump in the outdrive is fine? Did you just replace it?
I know I would never even think of using an old or even slightly used raw water pump impeller on a newly overhauled engine.

Are you guys running it standalone outside the boat? Or in the boat hooked up to the drive?

Then what about the impeller question?

It's a new water pump. Someone told me that it could possibly just be that there is a clog in the manifold. Prior to having the motor rebuilt water flowed freely.

Are you getting water to the engine? Disconnect the hose that comes from the outdrive and goes to the engine. Then start the engine and see if water comes out of the hose.
Only let it run for 15 seconds max.

Then you have a problem in your thermostat housing somewhere. Plugged bypass or something. The engine should fill with water, and there should always be water going to the exaust system, even with the thermostat closed. Thru that bypass hole.

Well that sounds better than the manifold being bad. I will check that out and let ya know the outcome. Thank you very much sir.
