No water from Tell Tail.

Water stopped coming out my tell tail. I replaced the water pump and still no outflow. Water seems to be circulating through the engine and out the thermostat port when I have the thermostat removed from the engine. Could there be a blockage in the exhaust area? 1990 70hp Johnson

Try fishing a pice of weed wacker line in the tell tail hose. It could just be clogged up.

Sorry should have added more info. Hose is clear and when I disconnected from exhaust cover still just a drip from connector.

Does the tell tale fitting come off the side of the engine block ( exhaust cover ) or off the top of the block ??----Service bulletin in 1994 said to move it to the top !

It’s on the top. I’m going to try blowing air through it later today to see if it’s got a blockage somewhere in the system.

Pull telltale hose off block, probe port w/wire and re-try.
oh.. if you’re testing on muffs, try it in barrel deep enough to submerge impeller or lake test. Muffs can show strange issues, and are not a valid waterpump/cooling system test anyway..

. Was going to put in tub this time. Although I was on the lake when I noticed it not coming out. Thanks

Fixed. Took the connector off top of exhaust manifold and found a piece of rubber blocking it.

Hooked things back up and ran it in a tote of water. Nice steady stream. Guessing it’s been slowing things down for about 5 years (Last-time impellers was replace by my boat guys). The impeller I just took out didn’t have in breakage to it.
