Son's 1990 3.0 Mercruiser ran great last year. Went to start up and no spark. Traced back to a box (brain?) disconnected. Tested lead coming from ? still no spark. Any suggestions?

What ignition system do you have? The DDIS?

No luck everthing seems to check out. Could bad alternator cause no spark?
