Pulled the lower unit off to change impeller, back together, no reverse. I think it's just an adjustment problem(had it off again to test shifting shoe, works fine when off the boat), but I have no idea where to begin adjusting. Any help would be awesome!

Re: no reverse

Did you use an instruction/service manual when you did the impeller?

How To: Replacing Merc Alpha style impeller

You have to have both halves of the drive in forward when you reattach them. The lower half is in forward by twisting the lower shift shaft (photo) CW and the prop CCW until it locks, the prop must be held in forward the whole time until they are mated. You can use an extra set of hands or a bungee cord to hold it.

Re: no reverse

I used one online, impeller works fantastic now. The no reverse is driving me nuts tho. I pulled off the entire outdrive to inspect all internal parts and just put it back together, still didn't help.

Re: no reverse

I used bungee cords to hold the prop in place, everything slid together with ease.

Ayuh,... My guess is, when ya stabbed the Lower, back onto the upper, the shift shaft was off by 1 tooth...

I pulled the upper unit off also and put them both back together on my bench to make sure it was right. Thats why I think it is an adjustment problem, just don't know where to adjust the cable at.
