Re: No Oil pressure after changing oil.

I agree that Fram filters Suck,...

I run Napa filters, which are rebadged Wix filters, 'n Wix are some of the Best,....

When I was a young man, I worked for a period in a Wix assembly plant in Bessemer City, NC where we made those oil filters. Some days we made NAPA filters, some days we made Ford OEM filters, some days we made Gulf Oil Company filters, some days we made Volvo filters, some days we even made our own brand filters. The only difference was the color of the paint on the can. The guts of the filter were exactly the same.

I have heard all of my adult life how poorly constructed Fram filters are. I can't really address that but I know Wix made a very good filter. I use them to this day on my motorcycle, whole house generator, truck, car and boat. I've never had a problem with a Wix filter.

Are you saying you use Fram also?

I use Fram (Pennzoil), Wix (Napa), Hastings, all kinds. Picked up 3 cases of Pennzoil PZ-3 oil filtes for a buck a piece several years back, and I'm still using them today.

I use a lot of Fram filters as well, haven't ever had a bad one. The boat gets quicksilver, but only because they are sitting next to the oil when I pick that up.

Thats great that it was only the filter...... I would also like to know what was wrong with the filter?

Agree with Alldoge........When its time for an oil chenge i go to the auto store and get what ever is on sale...oil/filter combo pack and change my oil in the boat. I change my oil often enough that the brand name means nothing to me. Also have been using Fram filters for years and never had a problem!
Many moons ago when i worked at a Mobil gas station (when gas stations were gas stations) we used wix/fram filters all the time. Never had an issue.

I prefer not to use Fram filters but I have used them in the past without any issues.

I like to use an OEM filter or at least a filter from the company that makes the OEM filter.

I've been using the AC-Delco PF1218 on my boat with great results.

Cut open a Fram filter by cutting the sheet metal from the mounting side. Do the same to a Wix. Compare. I guarantee you will never use a Fram again.

That is why I stopped using them.

Curious as to what was wrong with the filter?
Is it clogged?

No it was not clogged, the oil never cycled through it. Not sure why. It is still dry and new so I'm going to get my 4 bucks back.

It would be interesting to put that filter back on, [without draining the oil from the pan] and see if you have pressure again. I'm betting you would.

I have used Fram filters in my boats and cars for years, without issue as well.
