no electrical systems working

1985 volvo penta 5.0 no electrical systems working ( ignition blower and cabin lights)
Had the breaker on engine pop reset and started was shot replaced starter it started to
turn over and everything went dead do have power to starter

Need to start tracing wires with a voltmeter

Which 5.0 is it?

volvo penta started to checked the fifty amp fuses also checked power going to dash fuses good and nothing even to dash even the house battery
that run lights ect. nothing just replaced starter

Is the motor a GL and if it's a GL- which one?

Being 1985, it will be an AQ205 or AQ230

The main breaker is past its life. Check that. Also, check the battery connections and the main harness connector (trapezoid shaped connector)

got all new batteries new main wires from batteries is there a way to test
the breaker to see if it's the cause

Are all the connections shiny enough your mother in law would eat off them

A simple DVM is all that is needed beyond a visual inspection of the circuit breaker

just rebuilt this boat from transom to bow when it came to electrical
connections used dielectric grease and where wires were spliced
used solder connecters with heat shrink didn't have any problems until
starter went out really appreciate your time helping me

Get a cheap voltmeter and attach the negative probe to a long piece of wire. Connect that wire to negative Bat terminal. Take meter and red probe and start tracing wires from starter to helm
