G'day all
2005 30Hp Yamaha
Problem is no acceleration when in reverse. Forward no problem, goes into reverse with no issues just can't increase power.
Adjusted cable to no avail.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The motor revs up but with no back prop thrust right ? or doesn't acceerate at all which are 2 different scenarios? If (1) it's a lower gear case issue, something inside went kaput, whcih one is the issue ?

Consider that in reverse, the prop is sucking a bunch of air coming from the exhaust. That makes the engines nowhere near as effective in reverse as they are in forward gear.

Effect amplified by bulky heavy boats, like a pontoon boat for instance.

Easiest cure might be a 4 bladed prop.

Losing top reverse trust happens in 3-4 blade props compared to forward thrust, why would you need a speed demon prop when going in reverse for, reversing takes more time than forward thrust. If the motor was previously reveresing fine it's not a prop issue...

The motor goes into reverse as it should. Am unable to increase the rpms ie accelerate. In forward gear the accelerator cable moves forward and moves a small shaft with a white roller up a block then moving a shaft which opens the butterflies.
In reverse putting the accelerator to full throttle nothing moves or happens.

Is there something in the remote control box that could be hanging up?

Thanks

That would be easy enough to check for sure. I like checking the easy stuff first. Good place to start.

Surely could be an issue with the remote box not doing its homework right when the lever is put in reverse operation.
